Communication Officer – Mozambique (Pemba)

About the role

The Norwegian Refugee Council is seeking a Communication Officer to support the planning, coordination and production of high‑quality communication materials for both traditional and digital media in English and Portuguese. The role will be based in Pemba, Mozambique, and will work closely with program teams to ensure consistent, donor‑compliant messaging.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement communication products (photos, videos, case studies, infographics, social media posts) that reflect NRC’s guidelines and donor requirements.
• Support the national Communications Strategy and create a detailed weekly action plan.
• Travel to field locations to gather content, upload media weekly, and assist program staff with visibility materials.
• Liaise with national and international journalists, manage NRC Mozambique’s social media channels, and handle feedback and complaints.
• Collaborate with regional and global communication teams to polish and coordinate materials.
• Develop tools, templates, and standard operating procedures as needed.

Required profile

• Proven experience in humanitarian or NGO communications.
• Fluent in English and Portuguese, both written and spoken.
• Willingness to travel regularly to remote field sites.
• Strong understanding of donor compliance and media relations.
