Consultant – Support US Grant WASH Implementation (7 months)

About the role

UNICEF is seeking a national consultant to support the implementation of US‑funded WASH activities in Maputo, Mozambique for a 7‑month period. Working under the WASH Specialist, the consultant will combine office‑based planning with field travel to ensure effective delivery of water supply and institutional sanitation projects.

Key responsibilities

• Support programme planning and coordination for the US grant.
• Provide technical support and oversee implementation of water supply and sanitation works.
• Monitor progress, ensure quality assurance and prepare regular reports.
• Develop capacity of local institutions and partners.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Water Engineering, Hydrogeology or a related field.
• Minimum 5 years experience in WASH programmes, including at least 3 years in construction or supervision of water supply and institutional sanitation projects.
• Fluent in Portuguese (spoken and written); knowledge of local languages is an asset.
• Solid knowledge of solar water supply systems; environmental management knowledge is advantageous.
