Gender Equality and Social Inclusion Officer (m/f/x) – Mozambique

About the role

The Gender Equality and Social Inclusion (GESI) Officer will ensure that gender equality and social inclusion principles are fully integrated into a climate‑resilience project in Mozambique. Working closely with project teams, the officer will translate Enabel’s Gender Action Plan into concrete actions that benefit women, youth and vulnerable groups.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate the integration of GESI principles across all project components, aligning with Enabel’s Gender Action Plan and safeguard frameworks.
• Translate GESI commitments into measurable actions during annual planning, budgeting, implementation and monitoring.
• Ensure meaningful participation and benefits for women, youth and vulnerable groups in mini‑grid development, PURE investments and capacity‑building activities.
• Embed gender‑responsive and socially inclusive approaches in institutional strengthening efforts, particularly within the national energy fund (FUNAE).
• Support the inclusion of GESI considerations in project preparation, including site selection, community engagement and tendering processes.

Required profile

• Proven experience in gender equality, social inclusion and mainstreaming within development projects.
• Familiarity with climate‑resilience, renewable energy or off‑grid energy initiatives.
• Ability to work with national institutions such as FUNAE and to engage diverse stakeholder groups.
• Strong analytical and reporting skills to monitor GESI outcomes.
