Offshore Field Engineer – S-Lay Pipelay Vessel

About the role

A leading global energy operator is seeking an Offshore Field Engineer to join a major EPCI project in Mozambique. The role is based on S‑lay pipelay vessels (Solitaire / Stingray) and supports the installation of subsea pipelines during a critical phase of the project.

Key responsibilities

• Provide technical oversight of offshore pipelay operations, ensuring alignment with approved procedures and engineering specifications.
• Support the Company Site Representative (CSR) in supervising installation activities onboard the vessel.
• Monitor contractor performance and enforce compliance with project standards, HSE, and QA/QC requirements.
• Identify and manage technical deviations, following Management of Change (MoC) processes.
• Participate in risk assessments, HAZIDs, SIMOPS, and technical reviews.
• Interface with engineering, operations, QA/QC, and HSE teams to support installation execution.
• Track installation progress, provide accurate daily reporting, and hand over shift information.
• Witness offshore activities and verify compliance with contractual and technical requirements.
• Support project reporting systems and contribute to lessons learned and close‑out documentation.
• Act as deputy for the CSR when required.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related discipline.
• Minimum 10 years of Oil & Gas experience, including offshore projects.
• At least 5 years of experience with S‑lay pipelay installation.
• Strong background in offshore installation, contractor supervision, and technical assurance.
• Proven HSE and QA/QC compliance experience offshore.
• Experience on major EPCI/LNG projects is highly preferred.
• Previous experience onboard installation vessels is essential.
• Valid BOSIET certification.
• Valid OGUK medical and fitness for offshore work (OGUK‑compliant).
