Psychologist

About the role

The International Rescue Committee (IRC) seeks a qualified Psychologist to provide high‑quality mental health and psychosocial support (MHPSS) to individuals affected by conflict and disaster. You will work directly with high‑risk clients, deliver brief therapy, and lead group Trauma Resilience Training (TRT) while collaborating closely with IRC’s protection and health teams.

Key responsibilities

• Receive referrals, assess client needs, and deliver 1:1 crisis counselling and brief therapy.
• Roll out and supervise group TRT sessions, referring children to specialized services as required.
• Provide targeted MHPSS trainings and ongoing coaching for IRC case workers and external partners.
• Lead reporting on MHPSS activities, prepare weekly work plans, and maintain documentation and indicator trackers.
• Participate in local and national coordination meetings, building relationships with NGOs, community groups, and government actors.
• Offer translation and interpretation support when needed and perform any additional tasks assigned by the supervisor.

Required profile

• Experience delivering crisis counselling and brief therapy to high‑risk populations.
• Proficiency in facilitating and supervising group TRT.
• Ability to refer children to specialized MHPSS, child protection, and GBV services.
• Strong collaboration skills with multidisciplinary MHPSS and protection teams.
• Capacity to design and deliver trainings on MHPSS concepts and interventions.
• Commitment to IRC’s humanitarian principles, code of conduct, and professional standards.
