Senior Electrical Maintenance Technician

About the role

The Senior Electrical Maintenance Technician is responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, calibrating and re‑commissioning a wide range of electrical machinery and instruments in a power plant environment. The role aims to ensure reliable operation of electrical systems while minimising production downtime.

Key responsibilities

• Perform preventive, corrective and breakdown maintenance on generators, switchgear, transformers and related equipment with minimal supervision.
• Use the computerized maintenance system to request spare parts, record work orders and track maintenance history.
• Monitor recurring faults, propose corrective actions and implement solutions to prevent repeat failures.
• Provide on‑the‑job training to new craftsmen and supervise contract workers to ensure compliance with maintenance plans.
• Interpret electrical drawings, schematics and permits to safely execute high‑voltage tasks in line with EGA health‑safety regulations.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (minimum 3 years experience) or Diploma (minimum 5 years experience) in a power‑plant or heavy‑industrial setting.
• Hands‑on experience with generators, switchgear, transformers and high‑voltage electrical systems.
• Ability to work independently, assess risks and follow EHS standards.
• Proficient reading, writing and speaking English.
