Subcontracts Manager

About the role

The Subcontracts Manager leads the planning, execution and administration of all subcontract activities for large‑scale construction and oil‑and‑gas projects. Reporting to senior project leadership, the role ensures subcontract processes are efficient, compliant and aligned with project schedules and budgets.

Key responsibilities

• Support project staffing and develop the Project Subcontract Execution Plan.
• Collaborate with Engineering, Construction and Project Management to create subcontract sourcing documentation.
• Review, approve and recommend subcontract tendering and award documentation.
• Negotiate commercial terms, issue subcontract awards and manage post‑award administration.
• Facilitate pre‑award clarifications, kick‑off meetings and all post‑award sessions, ensuring accurate minutes.
• Maintain subcontract correspondence and documentation using an electronic document management system (EDMS).
• Conduct gap analysis of risks for all subcontract items and participate in change and risk management sessions.
• Reconcile and approve subcontract invoices, handling queries with subcontractors and internal teams.
• Provide input to weekly and monthly project reporting and support annual performance reviews.
• Manage commercial close‑out of subcontract agreements and ensure compliance with McDermott policies.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Construction, Engineering or Business.
• 10–15 years of experience in construction or the oil‑and‑gas industry.
• 5–8 years of experience in procurement/material management with a focus on subcontract administration.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Electronic Document Management System (EDMS).
