Utility Engineer

About the role

The Utility Engineer is responsible for the safe operation, maintenance and continuous improvement of utility substations (LV/MV), terminal electrical infrastructure and fire water pump facilities. The role ensures compliance with safety standards, manages breakdowns, and supports the maintenance team.

Key responsibilities

• Organise, manage and perform safe operation and maintenance of utility substations, LV/MV switchgears, transformers and gensets.
• Attend breakdowns and emergencies, conduct daily inspections and produce reports.
• Prepare maintenance sheets, improve procedures for switchgears, transformers and gensets.
• Manage suppliers, subcontractors and spare parts inventory.
• Provide technical support and training to users, maintain documentation, drawings and schematics.

Required profile

• 5‑8 years of experience in operations and maintenance of 11kV switchgears, generators and transformers.
• Degree in Electrical Engineering.
• Fluent in English and Portuguese.
• Strong communication and leadership abilities.

Required skills

• Experience with SIEMENS, ABB, Schneider or EFACEC switchgears.
• Knowledge of medium‑voltage substations, control and protection of switchgears.
• Automation of electrical substations.
• Fire water pump house and fire hydrant systems.
• Proficiency in MS Office.
