Financial Accountant (Maputo)

About the role

The Finance Department in Maputo is seeking a diligent Financial Accountant to supervise the Finance and Administration team, ensure accurate month‑end and year‑end closings, and maintain compliance with IFRS, tax and legislative requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise daily activities of Finance and Administration staff.
• Coordinate month‑end and year‑end closing processes, ensuring all reconciliations are completed on time.
• Review and validate all journal entries and general ledger postings in JDE Flex.
• Maintain and reconcile the fixed‑asset register with the general ledger.
• Prepare monthly AD50 reports for business unit managers and support profit‑and‑loss analysis.
• Oversee tax preparation, filing and compliance for income tax, VAT and withholding tax.
• Assist the Financial Controller with external and internal audit coordination.

Required profile

• Strong knowledge of IFRS and local tax regulations.
• Experience supervising finance staff and managing closing cycles.
• Attention to detail with a high degree of confidentiality.
• Ability to meet strict deadlines and produce accurate financial reports.

Required skills

• Proficiency with JDE Flex accounting software.
• Understanding of IFRS accounting standards.
