Health and Nutrition Officer – Full Time

About the role

Under the supervision of the Health & Nutrition Manager, the Health and Nutrition Officer will implement primary health‑care, surveillance, Integrated Management of Childhood Illnesses (IMCI) and other community health activities for targeted beneficiaries, including vulnerable groups, in Cabo Delgado. The role also supports non‑WASH rehabilitation works, provides medical and non‑medical equipment, and leads Social Behaviour Change Communication (SBCC) activities on maternal and child health, nutrition, and disease prevention.

Key responsibilities

• Implement primary health‑care services, disease surveillance and IMCI protocols in the field.
• Coordinate non‑WASH small‑scale rehabilitation projects and distribute medical supplies.
• Design and deliver SBCC campaigns covering antenatal care, immunisation, malaria and cholera prevention, nutrition and child development.
• Collaborate with health facilities, SDSMAS, community leaders, government authorities and project partners.
• Conduct mapping, set targets for health‑facility catchment areas, analyse data and produce visual reports.
• Provide technical support and mentorship to local health staff.

Required profile

• Experience in implementing primary health‑care, surveillance and community health interventions.
• Ability to work in remote, field‑based settings with frequent travel within Cabo Delgado.
• Strong coordination skills with health facilities, NGOs and government bodies.
• Fluency in English; knowledge of local languages is an advantage.
