Human Resources Business Partner – East Africa

About the role

The Human Resources Business Partner for East Africa will serve as a strategic advisor to business leaders, aligning people strategies with regional growth objectives. Reporting to the Regional Head of Human Resources and the Country Director, the role oversees the full employee lifecycle across multiple East African markets.

Key responsibilities

• Partner with senior leaders to design and implement HR strategies that support business goals and drive organizational effectiveness.
• Lead end‑to‑end talent acquisition for managerial and critical positions, building succession pipelines.
• Manage performance management processes, coaching managers and fostering a high‑performance culture.
• Handle employee relations matters, including grievances, investigations and conflict resolution.
• Lead industrial relations activities such as union negotiations, collective bargaining and labor dispute resolution.
• Support compensation and benefits programs, conduct salary benchmarking and recommend enhancements.
• Identify capability gaps, design learning interventions and support leadership development.
• Ensure compliance with local labor legislation and HR best practices across the region.

Required profile

• 10+ years of progressive HR experience, with at least 3‑5 years in a business partnering or regional HR leadership role.
• Proven experience managing HR functions across multiple East African countries.
• Deep knowledge of local labor laws, industrial relations and compliance requirements.
• Strong analytical ability to provide data‑driven HR insights.
• Excellent communication and influencing skills with senior stakeholders.
