Senior Technical Officer – Early Childhood Development

About the role

The Senior Technical Officer – Early Childhood Development will lead the integration of nurturing‑care interventions into Mozambique’s primary health‑care system. Based in Nampula City, the role supports the implementation of evidence‑based ECD activities across maternal, newborn and child health, nutrition and immunisation platforms.

Key responsibilities

• Manage day‑to‑day implementation of ECD activities in project‑supported districts, facilities and communities.
• Develop and adapt technical tools, job aids, training materials and learning products that facilitate ECD integration.
• Provide capacity‑building and technical guidance to FHI 360 staff and government partners.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to embed responsive caregiving, early stimulation, father engagement and caregiver wellbeing into routine health services.
• Strengthen linkages between health, nutrition, WASH and community platforms and ensure compliance with MISAU guidelines and global best practices.
• Participate in technical working groups, stakeholder meetings and coordination platforms.

Required profile

• Advanced degree in public health, early childhood development, nutrition, or a related field.
• Minimum 5 years of professional experience implementing ECD or child‑health programs in low‑resource settings.
• Demonstrated experience working with government health systems and multi‑sectoral partners.
• Strong analytical, reporting and facilitation skills.

Required skills

• Technical knowledge of early childhood development frameworks and nurturing‑care principles.
• Experience designing and delivering training and capacity‑building interventions.
• Ability to develop job aids, monitoring tools and learning materials.
