Technical Officer, Early Childhood Development (ECD)

About the role

The Technical Officer, Early Childhood Development (ECD) will support the implementation of integrated ECD interventions within Mozambique’s primary health‑care system. Based in Nampula City, the role works under the Senior Technical Advisor, Newborn and Child Health, and collaborates with FHI 360 project teams, provincial and district health authorities, and community partners.

Key responsibilities

• Support day‑to‑day implementation of ECD activities across project‑supported districts, facilities and communities.
• Develop and use technical tools, job aids, training materials, reports and learning products that facilitate ECD integration.
• Provide capacity‑strengthening to government stakeholders to sustain evidence‑based ECD interventions.
• Integrate nurturing care, responsive caregiving, early stimulation, developmental monitoring and referral systems into routine health services such as antenatal care, postnatal care, immunization and nutrition services.
• Promote caregiver‑focused interventions, including father engagement, caregiver wellbeing and support for adolescent and young mothers.
• Strengthen linkages between maternal, newborn and child health, nutrition, immunization, WASH and community health platforms.
• Participate in technical working groups, stakeholder meetings and coordination platforms related to health and ECD.
