Local Purchaser – Southern Africa

About the role

CBE Southern Africa is looking for a qualified Local Purchaser to join our dynamic team, contributing to the efficient procurement of goods and services essential for our engineering, construction, and GNL projects. This role involves sourcing materials, equipment, and services from local suppliers, ensuring timely delivery, cost‑effectiveness, and adherence to quality standards.

Key responsibilities

• Identify and evaluate local suppliers for materials, equipment, and services required for projects.
• Negotiate favorable terms, prices, and delivery schedules with vendors.
• Prepare and issue purchase orders in accordance with company policies and procedures.
• Monitor and track order status, ensuring timely delivery and resolving any discrepancies.
• Maintain accurate purchasing records and documentation.
• Collaborate with project managers and various departments to understand procurement needs.
• Conduct market research to identify new potential suppliers and industry trends.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant procurement regulations and company standards.
• Manage supplier relationships to foster long‑term partnerships and mitigate risks.
• Prepare regular reports on purchasing activities, cost savings, and supplier performance.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or a related field (preferred).
• Proven understanding of procurement principles and best practices.
• Strong negotiation and communication skills.
• Proficiency in procurement software and Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Excellent organizational and time‑management abilities.
• Detail‑oriented with a high level of accuracy.
• Fluency in English, both written and verbal.
• Valid driver's license (preferred).
