DCS Engineer – 12‑Month Rotational Role in Mozambique

About the role

This 12‑month position supports a major LNG on‑shore project in Northern Mozambique. The role is rotational (4 weeks on / 4 weeks off) and focuses on the technical integrity, installation, integration, testing and operability of ICSS, DCS and PLC systems throughout construction, pre‑commissioning, commissioning and hand‑over.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with engineering specifications, project requirements, standards and technical references for control and safety systems.
• Review and validate system architecture, I/O lists, logic diagrams, cause‑and‑effect matrices, network topologies and cybersecurity requirements.
• Support resolution of design inconsistencies and missing information with engineering centres and EPC teams.
• Assist installation of control equipment such as cabinets, marshalling panels, safety logic solvers, controllers, servers, networks, workstations, F&G panels and PLC cabinets.
• Participate in walk‑downs, inspections and testing activities including continuity, insulation, loop checks and Ex inspections.
• Provide technical support for site queries, deviations, NCRs and troubleshooting during construction.
• Prepare, review and implement pre‑commissioning and commissioning procedures for ICSS, DCS and PLC systems.
• Witness and support SAT, I/O loop checks, logic testing, sequence tests, performance tests, network redundancy checks and PLC‑to‑ICSS integration testing.
• Coordinate with package vendors for PLC integration across compressors, generators, HVAC, pumps, analysers and other equipment.
• Validate communication interfaces (Modbus TCP/IP, OPC, hard‑wired I/O, serial links) and implement cybersecurity controls.

Required profile

• Willingness to work on a rotational schedule (4 weeks on / 4 weeks off).
• Ability to work on‑site at a remote LNG project in Northern Mozambique.

Required skills

• DCS, PLC and ICSS control system expertise.
• Experience with installation and integration of control cabinets, marshalling panels and safety logic solvers.
• Knowledge of network protocols such as Modbus TCP/IP and OPC.
• Understanding of hard‑wired I/O, serial communication and interface validation.
• Familiarity with cybersecurity controls (access control, antivirus, USB control, configuration management).
• Competence in electrical testing procedures (continuity, insulation, loop checks, Ex inspections).
