QA/QC Supervisor – Insulation, Coating & Passive Fire Protection

About the role

The project is a world‑scale onshore LNG development in northern Mozambique, currently in the construction phase. We are looking for a senior QA/QC professional to own all surface protection, thermal insulation and passive fire protection activities on site, acting as the technical authority for coating, insulation and fire‑protection work.

Key responsibilities

• Review and approve contractor quality plans, ITPs, application procedures and applicator qualification schemes for coating, insulation and PFP.
• Ensure compliance with relevant codes and standards (NACE/AMPP, ISO 12944, ISO 8501/8502, ISO 19840, SSPC, ASTM, UL 1709) and project cryogenic insulation specifications.
• Supervise discipline inspections: surface preparation, environmental conditions, adhesion and holiday testing.
• Oversee cryogenic and hot‑service insulation installation, including thickness, joint staggering, barriers, jacketing and expansion joints.
• Manage PFP application on structural steel and vessel skirts, verifying substrate preparation, mesh reinforcement, thickness, curing and top‑coat sealing.
• Control critical interfaces such as paint‑after‑weld, PFP‑after‑hydrotest and coating‑before‑insulation sequencing.
• Verify applicator and inspector qualifications and authorize only qualified personnel.
• Maintain material traceability, storage conditions and shelf‑life control, including receipt inspection of certificates and fire test reports.
• Lead resolution of technical queries and non‑conformance reports, including root‑cause analysis and corrective actions.
• Champion HSE practices in the discipline, covering chemical safety, respiratory protection, confined‑space work, blast‑dust exposure, work at height and hot work near coated areas.
• Monitor performance, produce regular reports and contribute to project quality KPIs and lessons learned.
• Support digital coating and inspection tracking tools to ensure data quality for commissioning and final dossier hand‑over.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Chemical, Materials, Mechanical or Corrosion) or equivalent.
• Post‑qualification specialization in QA/QC, Inspection, Corrosion, Coatings or PFP.
• Significant senior‑level experience in coating, insulation and passive fire protection on large industrial projects.
• Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary inspection teams and manage complex interfaces.
