Operations Geologist – Offshore (12‑month contract)

About the role

This 12‑month contract supports geological operations on deep offshore oil and gas projects in Mozambique. The role is technically demanding, focusing on real‑time monitoring, formation evaluation, geosteering, pore‑pressure awareness and data‑acquisition planning to ensure safety, well delivery and cost performance.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor drilling operations in real time and provide formation evaluation.
• Perform geosteering and pore‑pressure analysis to mitigate stability risks.
• Plan and oversee LWD, wireline and sampling programmes.
• Develop well and pad plans for complex HPHT, deviated and horizontal wells.
• Provide technical oversight of service companies and supervise offshore geological operations.
• Produce high‑quality geological reports and post‑well analyses.
• Manage operational risk and uncertainty in a deep offshore environment.
• Utilise digital tools such as Gravitas and the COP Toolbox.

Required profile

• Master’s degree or equivalent in geosciences.
• 3–5 years experience in operations geology, including at least 2 years as a wellsite geologist.
• Deep offshore drilling experience with HPHT, deviated and horizontal wells.
• Experience supporting exploration, appraisal and development wells.
• Fluent English communication skills.
