Financial Accountant

About the role

The Finance department in Maputo is looking for a Financial Accountant to supervise the Finance and Administration team, ensure accurate month‑end and year‑end closings, and maintain compliance with IFRS, tax and legislative requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Daily supervision and direction of Finance and Administration staff.
• Coordinate month‑end and year‑end closing activities, including reconciliations, within set deadlines.
• Review and validate all journal entries and general‑ledger postings in JDE Flex.
• Maintain a master file of monthly journal entries with supporting documentation.
• Ensure capital expenditures are pre‑approved and recorded on the fixed‑asset register, which must be reconciled to the General Ledger.
• Perform regular GL analysis, balance‑sheet reconciliations and ensure accurate accruals and provisions.
• Supervise tax preparation, filing and compliance for income tax, VAT and withholding tax.
• Coordinate internal and external audits and support audit execution.

Required profile

• Strong knowledge of IFRS and local tax legislation.
• Experience in month‑end and year‑end closing processes.
• Ability to supervise a finance team and manage multiple deadlines.
• Proficiency in preparing and reviewing financial statements and reports.
