Senior Finance Officer – Field

About the role

The Senior Finance Officer supports the Country Program’s financial management systems, ensuring compliance with CRS accounting standards, GAAP, donor regulations and local laws. The role provides technical guidance to field and project finance staff and strengthens internal controls across all projects.

Key responsibilities

• Review and validate supporting documentation before processing transactions.
• Maintain account data in the SunSystems financial accounting package.
• Record transactions, analyze accounts for irregularities and prepare corrective entries.
• Monitor disbursement and receipt schedules, alert staff of due payments and ensure timely resource management.
• Evaluate sub‑recipient financial processes and build partner capacity.
• Prepare periodic and ad‑hoc financial reports and conduct variance analyses.
• Provide guidance on accounting policies, compliance issues and treasury duties while maintaining segregation of duties.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Business Administration or related field.
• Experience in an international or local NGO, financial institution or banking sector.
• Supervisory responsibilities.
• Proficiency in English and Portuguese.
• Willingness to travel up to 50% of the time.

Required skills

• Proficient in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Visio).
• Knowledge of SunSystems or similar financial reporting software.
• Familiarity with public donor regulations.
• Experience with web‑conferencing applications.
