Resettlement Data Technician

About the role

The Resettlement Data Technician will oversee the collection, quality assurance, analysis and archiving of terrestrial and fisheries resettlement data for projects in Cabo Delgado, Mozambique. The role ensures data integrity and supports compensation processes and spatial planning.

Key responsibilities

• Manage end‑to‑end resettlement data administration, including collection, QA/QC, analysis, distribution and workflow maintenance.
• Conduct regular inspections of third‑party data collection to verify compliance with protocols.
• Perform completeness checks on survey forms, photos, asset summaries, household agreements and proof of payments.
• Maintain the digital and physical data archive, ensuring proper backup and storage in the project repository.
• Develop and enforce data collection protocols to guarantee accuracy and legitimacy.
• Manage GIS equipment (GPS units, plotters, cameras) and provide spatial analysis and mapping support.
• Produce regular progress reports, maps and ad‑hoc information for the resettlement team.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Geography, GIS, Data Management or a related field.
• Minimum five years of experience in social geospatial data management and analysis.
• Strong understanding of compensation processes linked to resettlement.
• High attention to detail, ability to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines.

Required skills

• Proficiency with ArcGIS Pro, SDE, FileMaker, ODBC, ISOMETRIX and Borealis.
• Experience with modern database management and spatial analysis tools.
• Familiarity with fisher and vessel registration processes.
• Fluency in Portuguese and English (written and spoken).
