Accountant

About the role

We are looking for an Accountant to join OBT’s finance team in Mozambique. The role will ensure accurate, timely and compliant financial accounting and reporting, supporting day‑to‑day operations and the company’s growth in the maritime and logistics sector.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain accounting records in accordance with IFRS and OBT Group policies.
• Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements and support month‑end close.
• Manage accounts payable and receivable, including invoicing, collections and payments.
• Monitor cash flow, perform bank reconciliations and assist with daily cash management.
• Ensure compliance with Mozambican tax regulations, handling VAT, WHT and statutory filings.
• Support budgeting, forecasting and variance analysis.
• Maintain strong internal controls, assist with audits and regulatory requirements.
• Identify and implement process improvements and optimise use of ERP/accounting systems.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics or a related field.
• 3–6 years of accounting or finance experience, preferably in logistics, freight forwarding or a similar industry.
• Solid understanding of accounting principles, financial reporting and local tax regulations in Mozambique.
• Experience with ERP systems and strong Excel skills.
• Ability to work independently while aligning with group finance standards.
