Accountant

About the role

Alfred H Knight is seeking an experienced Accountant to join its team in Maputo, Mozambique. The role involves providing sound financial support, applying internal controls, and ensuring accurate and timely processing of all accounting transactions.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare monthly financial reports, supporting schedules, and statutory returns (IVA, INSS, IRPS, IRPC).
• Manage day‑to‑day financial transactions, including invoices, cashbooks, journals, petty cash, and credit‑card schedules.
• Oversee accounts payable, supplier database maintenance, invoice processing, and monthly supplier reconciliations.
• Support cash‑flow management, year‑end audits, and fixed‑asset administration.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years of relevant accounting experience, preferably in a corporate or service environment.
• Registration with the Ordem dos Contabilistas e Auditores de Moçambique (OCAM) and a bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
• Strong numerical, analytical, and problem‑solving abilities with high attention to detail.
• Fluent English communication; Portuguese proficiency is an advantage.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office applications.
• Experience with accounting/financial management systems, preferably SunSystems.
