Administrative Driver

About the role

GAIN is seeking an Administrative Driver to support its Cabo Delgado Food Systems Strengthening Programme in northern Mozambique. The role combines safe vehicle operation with light logistical and administrative tasks to enable programme staff to reach field sites and partners.

Key responsibilities

• Transport programme staff safely and punctually to field sites, meetings, partner offices across Cabo Delgado and, when required, Nampula and Zambézia, planning routes based on road, weather and security information.
• Conduct pre‑journey vehicle checks, maintain the vehicle in good condition, coordinate servicing, and keep the vehicle securely parked with control of keys and documentation.
• Maintain an accurate logbook for each journey, record mileage, fuel consumption and incidents, and submit receipts promptly.
• Assist with loading, unloading and securing programme materials and equipment, and provide basic logistical support during field missions.
• Support the collection and delivery of programme documents, correspondence and small equipment, and help with basic procurement and delivery follow‑up tasks.

Required profile

• Valid Mozambican driving licence (Category B minimum) with a clean driving record and demonstrated safe‑driving experience in private and NGO settings.
• High school certificate; a diploma in logistics, transport management or basic vehicle‑maintenance training is an advantage.
• Ability to work long‑distance trips, early departures, overnight stays and occasional weekend travel in remote, security‑sensitive environments.
• Proficiency in Portuguese; knowledge of local languages (Makhuwa, Emakhuwa, Shimakonde) is a strong advantage.

Required skills

• Use of GPS and mobile map applications for navigation and route planning.
• Basic vehicle‑maintenance knowledge and ability to communicate issues to mechanics.
• Accurate record‑keeping of vehicle logbooks, fuel receipts and fleet‑management documentation.
