Chief Executive Officer – Hospital

About the role

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) provides strategic leadership and operational oversight for a hospital and its associated market. Reporting to the Surgery Partners COO/SVP, the CEO works closely with the Board of Directors, physician leaders, and the management company to ensure high‑quality, efficient patient care and sustainable growth.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and develop the executive team, fostering a culture of teamwork, performance, and professional growth.
• Define and execute market‑growth strategies, including physician recruitment, service‑line development, and regional expansion.
• Drive operational excellence across the hospital, ambulatory surgery centers, and physician practices.
• Serve as the primary liaison between the Board, medical staff, and Surgery Partners, ensuring clear communication and governance.
• Partner with physician leadership to strengthen physician culture and engagement.
• Monitor industry trends and adjust strategic plans to address market conditions.
• Oversee financial performance, budgeting, and resource allocation to achieve fiscal targets.

Required profile

• Proven senior leadership experience in a healthcare setting, preferably as a CEO or equivalent.
• Strong track record of driving growth, managing complex operations, and delivering financial results.
• Excellent communication and relationship‑building skills with boards, physicians, and external partners.
• Ability to think strategically while executing operational initiatives.
