Consultant – Review Regulations & Draft Technical Standards for Small Dams

About the role

The International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) is seeking an experienced consultant to support the Mozambique Office in reviewing existing regulations and preparing technical standards for small dams. This assignment will contribute to improved water management and safety across the country.

Key responsibilities

• Analyse current national and regional regulations governing small dams.
• Identify gaps and propose revisions to align with best practices.
• Develop comprehensive technical standards covering design, construction, operation, and monitoring of small dams.
• Prepare detailed reports and documentation for submission to IUCN and relevant Mozambican authorities.
• Coordinate with project stakeholders to ensure relevance and applicability of the standards.

Required profile

• Proven experience in water resources management, dam safety, or related regulatory work.
• Strong background in drafting technical guidelines or standards.
• Familiarity with the environmental and socio‑economic context of Mozambique is an advantage.
