Country Coordinator – CRVS Program (Mozambique)

About the role

The Country Coordinator will lead the implementation of the Civil Registration and Vital Statistics (CRVS) Improvement Program in Mozambique. Reporting to the Regional Deputy Director, the coordinator will ensure that CRVS system strengthening activities are country‑owned, technically rigorous, and aligned with national priorities.

Key responsibilities

• Serve as the primary in‑country focal point for the CRVS Improvement Program and maintain strong relationships with senior officials in health, justice, interior, and statistics ministries.
• Lead or support national CRVS coordination mechanisms, technical working groups, and represent the program in national forums and partner meetings.
• Develop annual and multi‑year work plans and budgets that align with national strategies.
• Oversee technical implementation of CRVS system strengthening activities, ensuring adherence to approved work plans.
• Promote country leadership, ownership, and long‑term sustainability of CRVS reforms.

Required profile

• Proven experience leading implementation of public‑health or CRVS programs in low‑ and middle‑income settings.
• Demonstrated ability to engage senior government counterparts and development partners.
• Strong understanding of national health and statistics systems and data‑use improvement.
