Crane Electrical Technician

About the role

The Crane Electrical Technician is responsible for maintaining the electrical systems of cranes and related equipment in a port or heavy‑equipment environment. The role ensures safety, operational availability and compliance with maintenance procedures.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain safety and discipline in the work area.
• Perform electrical maintenance, fault finding and monitoring of cranes and related equipment.
• Diagnose and repair faults to maximise crane availability.
• Submit routine inspection and monitoring reports.
• Report breakdowns, generate work orders and record start/end times of maintenance activities.
• Carry out preventive electrical maintenance as defined in the system.
• Attend emergency breakdowns and ensure follow‑up reporting.
• Maintain workshop tidiness and cleanliness.
• Obtain supervisor approval for purchase requisitions.

Required profile

• 1‑3 years of field experience with cranes or heavy equipment.
• Degree in Electrical Engineering.
• Experience in container ports, mining or steel industries is preferred.
• Ability to work at heights and knowledge of lifting chains and ropes.
• Strong understanding of safety procedures.
