General Manager (Part‑time) – UK–Mozambique Chamber

About the role

The UK‑Mozambique Chamber of Commerce is launching its first phase of operations and seeks a part‑time General Manager to lead the day‑to‑day establishment of the organisation. Reporting to the Board, the role is hands‑on, focused on turning strategy into tangible results and building trust with members, partners and public institutions.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the set‑up and daily operation of the Chamber, translating Board priorities into work plans, budgets and operating rhythms.
• Drive membership growth, onboarding, retention and delivery of member value.
• Manage relationships with founding members, prospective members, partners, the British High Commission and Mozambican institutions.
• Oversee programmes of events, business briefings, advocacy processes, sector work and knowledge products.
• Ensure financial and administrative discipline, including budget monitoring, payment follow‑up and internal controls.
• Supervise the Trade Officer, interns, consultants and other service providers.
• Support Board reporting, annual planning, performance tracking and institutional accountability.

Required profile

• Proven track record of delivering results in start‑up or organisational building environments.
• Experience in trade promotion, investment promotion, business development, advocacy or member‑based organisations.
• Strong stakeholder engagement skills with senior private‑ and public‑sector audiences.
• Ability to operate effectively with limited resources, evolving priorities and high expectations.
• Commercial judgement and disciplined operational approach.
