General Manager – Shipping & Supply Chain

About the role

One of our clients is looking for a General Manager to define and deploy the company’s global strategy, driving growth, profitability and operational excellence across both maritime and supply‑chain activities.

Key responsibilities

• Define commercial and financial objectives, manage P&L, optimise costs and maximise gross margin.
• Oversee chartering contracts, shipping line management and fleet/container capacity allocation, negotiating with shipowners and ports.
• Direct end‑to‑end cargo flow, warehouse infrastructure, inventory optimisation and final distribution while ensuring customs compliance.
• Lead and develop operational leadership teams in Shipping, Logistics, Commercial and Finance, fostering a culture of performance, safety and customer satisfaction.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, International Transport or Engineering.
• At least 10 years of senior managerial experience in a shipowner, international freight forwarder or large‑scale shipper.
• Proven strategic leadership, high‑level negotiation skills and ability to make critical decisions in complex or crisis situations.

Required skills

• Advanced knowledge of Incoterms.
• Understanding of maritime law.
• Expertise in freight pricing mechanisms.
• Proficiency with industry information systems such as ERP, WMS and TMS.
