Head of Human Resources

About the role

The Head of Human Resources will lead the HR function for Future Engineering Services, a Mozambican industrial and cement producer, based in Matola. This full‑time, on‑site position is responsible for aligning people strategy with business objectives and ensuring compliance with local labour legislation.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, implement and continuously improve HR policies, procedures and systems.
• Manage recruitment, workforce planning and talent acquisition.
• Oversee performance management, learning and development programmes.
• Support senior leadership with organisational design, change management and HR risk mitigation.
• Handle employee relations, conflict resolution and grievance processes.
• Drive employee engagement initiatives and foster an inclusive, high‑performance culture.
• Coordinate compensation, benefits and payroll frameworks.
• Monitor HR metrics, produce reports and use data to inform decisions.

Required profile

• Strong expertise in Human Resources and HR management, preferably in industrial, manufacturing or related sectors.
• Solid knowledge of Mozambican labour and employment law and experience applying it.
• Proven ability to design and maintain fair, transparent HR policies.
• Experience managing employee relations and building trust‑based communication.
• Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Law or related field; advanced HR certifications (e.g., CIPD, SHRM) are a plus.
• Strong leadership, coaching and stakeholder‑management skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication in Portuguese; working knowledge of English preferred.
• Familiarity with the Mozambican labour market and industrial sector is highly beneficial.
