Health & Nutrition Coordinator (Mozambique)

About the role

Under the supervision of the Country Director, the Health & Nutrition Coordinator ensures the quality, relevance and scaling of the Nutrition & Health strategy and interventions in Mozambique. The role aligns programmes with Action contre la Faim standards, national policies and the mission’s localisation agenda.

Key responsibilities

• Contribute to defining the country and Nutrition & Health strategies.
• Coordinate needs assessments and formulate project proposals.
• Design, develop, implement and evaluate nutrition and health actions.
• Monitor and coordinate nutrition and health programmes.
• Develop and launch programmes in partnership with governmental and local agencies.
• Provide technical management to Nutrition and Health Program Managers.
• Represent Action contre la Faim locally and coordinate with other humanitarian actors.

Required profile

• Medical background with a specialization in nutrition, public health or general medicine.
• Minimum 5 years experience in humanitarian emergencies or complex contexts, including at least 3 years in a coordination role.
• Proven experience in malnutrition management, community‑based prevention and maternal‑child health.
• Experience working with local authorities; outbreak‑response experience is an asset.
• Fluent in English (spoken and written); Portuguese proficiency preferred.

Required skills

• Knowledge of nutrition survey methodologies such as SMART, NCA and SQUEAC.
• Strong team leadership, capacity‑building and supervision abilities in multicultural environments.
