Hospital Chief Executive Officer (CEO)

About the role

The Hospital Chief Executive Officer (CEO) provides strategic leadership and operational oversight for the entire hospital and its market. Reporting to the Surgery Partners COO/SVP, the CEO acts as the primary liaison to the Board of Directors and collaborates closely with physician leadership and health‑system partners to drive growth and excellence.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and develop operational and functional leaders across the hospital, practice, finance, and business development.
• Define and execute market‑growth strategies, including physician recruitment and regional expansion.
• Drive operational excellence initiatives across hospitals, ambulatory surgery centers, and physician practices.
• Maintain effective communication and support for the Board of Directors and Surgery Partners.
• Partner with medical staff to foster a strong physician culture and collaborative relationships.
• Monitor industry trends, develop short‑ and long‑term strategic plans, and ensure their execution.
• Oversee financial performance, budgeting, and resource allocation to achieve organizational goals.

Required profile

• Proven senior leadership experience in a hospital or large healthcare organization.
• Demonstrated success in market expansion, physician recruitment, and service‑line development.
• Strong financial management and budgeting expertise.
• Ability to work closely with boards, management partners, and medical staff.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder‑engagement skills.
