HSE Superintendent

About the role

The HSE Superintendent will report to the Upstream Installation / Construction Manager and ensure that all health, safety and environmental (HSE) requirements are met for onshore and nearshore activities in Afungi, Mozambique. This 12‑month contract supports a $1.5 bn infrastructure project involving pipelines, manifolds and related structures.

Key responsibilities

• Provide support to the Upstream Installation / Construction Manager and ensure compliance with project HSE systems, processes and procedures.
• Lead HSE engagement with contractors, influence safe behaviours and promote an incident‑free mindset.
• Monitor and oversee HSE aspects of works on‑site, manage two direct‑report HSE Supervisors and coordinate indirect contractor HSE teams.
• Advise the Project Delivery Team on contractor HSE plan delivery and report progress to stakeholders.

Required profile

• Minimum 10 years of HSE experience in the oil & gas industry.
• Recognised HSE qualification such as NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent.
• Current BOSIET and OGUK medical certification.
• Fluent English with strong interpersonal, coaching and influencing skills.

Required skills

• HSE investigations and root‑cause analysis.
• Conducting detailed HSE audits.
• Knowledge of One‑MAESTRO framework, HSE and biodiversity policies.
