IT Software Developer Consultant – Maputo (6-month contract)

About the role

UNICEF is seeking an IT Software Developer Consultant to support the implementation and enhancement of mission-critical information systems in Maputo, Mozambique. The six-month consultancy will be office-based and focused on delivering high-quality, stable, and secure software solutions that meet approved functional specifications.

Key responsibilities

• Implement functional and technical enhancements and develop new software components.
• Maintain existing applications, perform technical testing, and correct identified defects.
• Support functional testing activities and assist during solution deployment.
• Ensure technical quality, stability, security, and proper functioning of delivered functionalities.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Informatics, IT or a related field.
• Proven experience developing and implementing at least one enterprise-grade, mission-critical information system with distributed transactions, fault tolerance and high availability.
• Strong communication skills in Portuguese (verbal and written).

Required skills

• Java development.
• Enterprise Architect or similar modeling tool.
• Data modelling, UML, BPMN, use-case and sequence diagram design.
• Oracle or PostgreSQL database experience.
• Agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban) and traditional Waterfall approaches.
• OCUP 2 (OMG Certified UML Professional) certification – desirable.
• Microsoft, Oracle or AWS certifications in systems analysis and integration – desirable.
