National Health Emergency Consultant – Mozambique (2‑month contract)

About the role

UNICEF is seeking a National Health Emergency Consultant to support the Child Health and Nutrition section in Xai‑Xai, Mozambique for a two‑month, office‑based assignment. The role reports to the Health Emergency Officer and works closely with government counterparts and implementing partners.

Key responsibilities

• Strengthen coordination mechanisms at provincial and district levels.
• Support emergency health supplies, logistics, and rehabilitation of health facilities.
• Monitor compliance with emergency health standards and ensure accurate reporting and documentation.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Medicine, Public Health, or a related field.
• At least 5 years of progressive experience in public health and emergency health programmes, including flood, cholera, or displacement emergencies.
• Demonstrated ability to support government‑led emergency health operations and coordinate with Mozambique’s Ministry of Health and provincial/district health directorates.

Required skills

• Fluency in Portuguese (oral and written) for high‑quality technical reporting.
• Experience coordinating multi‑sectoral teams, government counterparts, and NGOs in emergency contexts.
