Plant Manager – Marine Construction Project

About the role

BESIX is seeking an experienced Plant Manager for a large marine construction project in Mozambique. The role leads the functional management of all plant and machinery on site, ensuring equipment performance aligns with project and company objectives while adhering to safety, quality and environmental standards.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee mechanics, lubrication, maintenance control and fuel management for all equipment on site.
• Coordinate with the Construction Manager to align equipment planning with project schedules and corrective actions.
• Develop the plant department’s organisational chart, define responsibilities up to foreman level and supervise all equipment‑related services.
• Interact with production, planning and commercial teams to propose technical solutions that meet deadlines and cost targets.
• Conduct field inspections, ensure compliance with safety, quality and environmental requirements, and report daily production data.
• Define and request allocation of necessary equipment, liaise with employer and engineer supervision, and enforce SPE quality and HSE plans.

Required profile

• Mechanical or electro‑mechanical engineering degree (mechanical engineer).
• Minimum 10 years of experience in similar plant management roles.
• Strong service‑mindset, autonomy and ability to plan and administratively manage plant maintenance.
• Experience with maintenance software and excellent English; Portuguese is a plus.
• Willingness to work in a remote base camp (Afungi, Mozambique).
