Project Coordinator – Cabo Delgado Food Systems Strengthening Programme

About the role

GAIN is looking for a Project Coordinator to lead day‑to‑day implementation of the Cabo Delgado Food Systems Strengthening Programme (CDFSS). Based in Pemba, the role will oversee activities across Cabo Delgado, Nampula and Zambézia, ensuring the work plan is translated into actionable field plans.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate daily implementation of CDFSS activities across three provinces, converting the work plan into semester and field‑level plans.
• Serve as the primary contact for implementing partners and liaise with government authorities, municipalities, cooperatives and community structures.
• Maintain an up‑to‑date activity tracker and alert the Project Manager to any delays, risks or decisions requiring attention.
• Organise and lead field missions for monitoring, partner support and verification of programme outputs, producing detailed field visit reports.
• Compile data for semester, annual and donor reports, highlighting results, challenges, lessons learned and evidence‑based recommendations.

Required profile

• Proven experience in programme coordination, project management or field implementation within the development sector.
• Demonstrated ability to manage activities across multiple locations and work with diverse partners, including NGOs, private‑sector actors and community groups.
• Experience in food systems, food security, agriculture, market systems or nutrition is highly desirable.
• Previous work in northern Mozambique or similar fragile/conflict‑affected contexts is an advantage.
• Strong organisational, communication and influencing skills, with a focus on quality, compliance and donor requirements.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
