Registered Nurse – PCU (PRN)

About the role

The Registered Nurse (PRN) in the Progressive Care Unit (PCU) provides high‑quality, patient‑centered care across adolescent, adult, and geriatric populations. Working on an as‑needed basis, the RN applies clinical expertise to assess, plan, intervene, implement, and evaluate patient outcomes while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams.

Key responsibilities

• Participate in the development and improvement of patient‑care delivery systems, standards, policies, and procedures.
• Apply age‑specific standards for medication administration, sedation, and routine treatments.
• Incorporate cultural and developmental considerations into individualized care plans.
• Educate patients and families about disease processes, wellness promotion, and discharge planning.
• Engage in performance‑improvement activities, data collection, and analysis to enhance quality outcomes.
• Utilize critical‑thinking skills to delegate tasks appropriately based on patient assessment and staff competence.

Required profile

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program; Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred.
• 1‑3 years recent RN experience; orthopedic, neurosurgical, or pain‑management experience preferred.
• Current state RN license and CPR certification.
• ACLS and PALS certifications.
