Safety Culture Coach – Project Safety Operations

About the role

The Safety Culture Coach will join the Safety Operations team on the Afungi site, supporting a large workforce of up to 15,000 people across drilling, subsea, offshore and on‑shore construction activities. The role focuses on embedding a positive safety culture, coaching leaders and workers, and ensuring compliance with TotalEnergies standards.

Key responsibilities

• Drive safety culture and leadership programmes throughout the project.
• Create and maintain plans to influence behaviours and attitudes at all workforce levels.
• Provide structured coaching to managers, supervisors and workers, reinforcing safe work practices.
• Support hazard identification, risk assessments and the implementation of effective control measures.
• Deliver toolbox talks, safety inductions and refresher training sessions.
• Implement and monitor safety tools such as Golden Rules, Stop cards, permit audits, and the “Our Lives First” programme.
• Conduct site inspections, monitor high‑risk activities and intervene to prevent accidents.
• Document observations, prepare reports and feed back to management for performance improvement.
• Participate in investigations and REX processes as the human‑factors subject‑matter expert.
• Develop and lead safety‑culture workshops covering hazard recognition, risk perception, active listening and emotional intelligence.

Required profile

• Proven experience in developing and sustaining safety culture in large, multi‑contractor environments.
• Ability to coach managers, supervisors and frontline workers effectively.
• Strong communication and influencing skills across all organisational levels.
• Experience with offshore, subsea and on‑shore construction projects.
• Familiarity with TotalEnergies HSE standards and LNG project environments.
