Sales Engineer – Angola Market (Based in Maputo)

About the role

Timken is seeking a technically strong, commercially driven Sales Engineer to develop the Angola market while being based in Maputo, Mozambique. You will work closely with distributors and industrial customers across sectors such as mining, cement, power generation and heavy industry.

Key responsibilities

• Support development and execution of market growth plans for Angola and surrounding markets.
• Identify and develop opportunities with distributors, end‑users, engineering firms, mining and cement plants, power generation facilities and other industrial customers.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with distributors, customers, maintenance and engineering teams, and procurement stakeholders.
• Conduct technical presentations, product demonstrations, application support and training on Timken’s bearing and power‑transmission portfolio.
• Gather market intelligence on customer needs, competitor activity and import considerations, and feed insights to the sales manager.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
• Minimum 4 years of experience in industrial or technical sales, business development or distributor management.
• Proven experience in sectors such as bearings, mining, metals, cement, power generation or heavy industry.
• Fluent in English and Portuguese, with a valid driver’s licence and passport.
• Willingness to travel extensively to Angola, including fly‑in/fly‑out missions.

Required skills

• Interpretation of mechanical drawings and specifications.
• Use of CRM systems and sales forecasting tools.
• Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
• Technical product knowledge of bearings and power‑transmission equipment.
• Delivery of technical presentations and product demonstrations.
