Security Coordinator (Layer 3) - Rotational, Afungi

About the role

A rotational Layer 3 Security Coordinator position in Afungi, Cabo Delgado, Mozambique, starting 16 May 2026 on a 12-month renewable contract. The post protects project operations and logistics movements in Layer 3 areas, liaises with local authorities and contractors, and reports on security situations and threat escalations. The work scheme is 4 weeks on / 4 weeks off.

Key responsibilities

• Mentor Protection Force personnel to implement VPSHR guidelines while keeping a high operational level
• Manage project logistical movement in Layer 3 areas and organize contractor convoys with escort coordination
• Ensure socioeconomic activities have proper security support and updated security awareness
• Oversee stabilization activities in Layer 3 areas and report on security situations and threat escalations
• Ensure contractor staff comply with TEPMA1 security SOPs and assess road security conditions with the Afungi security department
• Liaise daily with local authorities, the population, state and private security forces, contractors and the military (JTF)
• Evaluate threat levels continuously and confirm safe convoy movements
• Adhere to the HSE system, promote a safety culture, and conduct VPSHR awareness sessions and incident reporting
• Monitor consumption of fuel, food, water and consumables, and maintain protection setups per security protocols

Required profile

• Fluent English, Portuguese and Swahili, with some knowledge of local languages
• No criminal record
• Basic high school diploma
• Military or police background (at least Senior NCO) and experience with military and police personnel
• Valid driver's license and valid passport

Required skills

• Basic computer skills and Windows system experience
• Ability to work in an isolated, tropical, high-risk malaria zone with long hours and camp life, including 24/7 availability
