Security Coordinator (Layer 3) – Rotational

About the role

The Layer 3 Security Coordinator will lead protection activities for logistics and socioeconomic projects in Pemba, Mozambique. Working on a 28‑days‑on / 28‑days‑off rotational schedule, the role ensures compliance with the Voluntary Principles of Security and Human Rights (VPSHR) while maintaining high operational and safety standards in a high‑risk, tropical environment.

Key responsibilities

• Mentor Protection Force personnel to fully implement VPSHR guidelines.
• Organise and supervise logistical movements, convoy planning and escort coordination across Layer 3 areas.
• Provide security support and awareness for all project‑related socioeconomic activities.
• Monitor and report security situations, threat escalations and road safety conditions.
• Enforce security SOPs and HSE compliance for all contractor staff and convoys.
• Maintain liaison with local authorities, state security, private security forces and contractors.
• Assess daily threat levels, road conditions and consumption rates (food, fuel, water).
• Prepare daily activity and incident reports and communicate VPSHR incidents to management.

Required profile

• Experience mentoring security personnel and implementing VPSHR or similar frameworks.
• Ability to work rotational schedules (28 days on/28 days off) in isolated, tropical locations.
• Willingness to operate in a high‑risk malaria zone and adhere to strict health‑safety protocols.
• Strong coordination skills with military contingents, local authorities and private contractors.
• Capacity to produce accurate daily reports on security, logistics and resource consumption.
