Senior Electrical Maintenance Technician

About the role

The Senior Electrical Maintenance Technician is responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, calibrating and re‑commissioning a wide range of electrical machinery and instruments in a power plant environment. The role aims to ensure reliable operation and minimise production downtime.

Key responsibilities

• Perform preventive, corrective and breakdown maintenance on electrical equipment with minimal supervision, including on‑call duties.
• Assess job requirements, select appropriate tools and follow safe procedures to restore systems quickly.
• Use the computerized maintenance system to request spare parts and record all work performed.
• Monitor recurring failures, propose and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
• Provide on‑the‑job training to new craftsmen and supervise contract workers.
• Read and interpret technical drawings, diagnose faults and carry out repairs within defined time constraints.
• Ensure compliance with EHS standards, high‑voltage safety regulations and plant operating procedures.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related diploma.
• Minimum 3 years (degree) or 5 years (diploma) experience in a power plant or heavy‑industrial electrical environment.
• Hands‑on experience with generators, switchgear, transformers and high‑voltage systems.
• Proficient in English (reading, writing and speaking).
