Senior Process Engineer – Upstream & Midstream Oil & Gas

About the role

The Senior Process Engineer will lead the design, optimisation and technical support of upstream and midstream oil and gas operations at Sasol’s Mozambique facilities. You will ensure safe, efficient and sustainable performance while guiding multidisciplinary teams through complex engineering challenges.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, review and optimise Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs) and Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs).
• Conduct feasibility studies and simulation modelling for production and transportation systems.
• Identify and implement efficiency improvements, cost reductions and reliability enhancements.
• Provide technical guidance for troubleshooting production, separation, compression and pipeline issues.
• Support commissioning, start‑up and performance testing of new facilities.
• Lead mass and energy balance calculations, detect deviations and initiate corrective actions.
• Drive process engineering input for capital projects, including FEED and detailed design.
• Perform HAZID, HAZOP and risk assessments, embedding Process Safety Management (PSM) principles.
• Mentor junior engineers and deliver technical training to operations staff.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in process engineering for upstream and midstream oil & gas.
• Strong problem‑solving ability and proven leadership of multidisciplinary teams.
• In‑depth knowledge of industry standards, environmental regulations and safety requirements.
• Ability to communicate technical information clearly to operations personnel.
• Commitment to continuous improvement and mentorship.
