Senior Structural Engineer

About the role

The Senior Structural Engineer leads the Field Engineering Discipline for the Mozambique LNG Project, acting as the primary technical authority for structural and civil engineering activities on site. Reporting to the Field Engineering Manager, the role ensures that engineering solutions meet McDermott and JV partner standards while supporting construction progress.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the field engineering team in delivering design changes, red‑line mark‑ups, and as‑built documentation during construction.
• Provide technical support to QA/QC groups for non‑conformance issues and disposition of findings.
• Interpret construction drawings, specifications, and related documents to guarantee compliance on site.
• Coordinate closely with the home office engineering team to resolve complex technical problems.
• Maintain the master copy of all engineering documentation, ensuring it is current, complete, and free of superseded items.
• Review IFC modifications and determine the need for formal transmission to subcontractors.
• Assist the construction project organization in integrating engineering solutions into the construction schedule.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Structural, Civil or related engineering discipline.
• Extensive experience (typically 8+ years) in field engineering for large‑scale LNG or oil‑gas projects.
• Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary engineering teams on construction sites.
• Strong knowledge of industry standards, codes, and McDermott/JV procedures.
• Excellent communication skills for interfacing with JV partners, contractors, and internal stakeholders.
