Site HSE Manager – Onshore LNG Project (Mozambique)

About the role

This senior position leads Health, Safety, Environment and Emergency Response for a major onshore LNG construction project in Afungi, Cabo Delgado, Mozambique. The manager will own HSE performance, drive a strong safety culture, and ensure safe delivery from construction through to operations.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and promote a robust HSE culture across the company and EPC contractor teams.
• Ensure site‑wide compliance with HSE standards, procedures and regulatory requirements.
• Oversee emergency response, environmental and health functions and act as a member of the Site Emergency Management Team.
• Support incident investigations, reporting and corrective/preventive action tracking.
• Manage, develop and mentor the on‑site HSE team.
• Conduct field‑based safety oversight, inspections and monitor contractor HSSE performance.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives and ensure training compliance and HSE committee reviews.

Required profile

• Master’s degree or equivalent (preferred).
• 15+ years of HSE experience, including 5+ years in a management role.
• Significant exposure to large greenfield LNG projects and other petrochemical, refinery or gas‑processing facilities.
• Strong leadership, behavioural safety and stakeholder‑management capabilities.
• Fluent English; Portuguese or French is an advantage.
