Surgical Technologist – Operating Room

About the role

The Surgical Technologist works as an essential member of the operating room team, supporting surgeons, anesthesiologists, and nurses during surgical procedures. The role involves preparing the surgical environment, handling instruments, and ensuring patient safety throughout the operation.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and maintain medical equipment, sterile drapes, and solutions before surgery.
• Assist with patient preparation, including washing, shaving, and disinfecting incision sites.
• Transport patients to the OR, position them on the table, and apply sterile drapes.
• Pass instruments, hold retractors, cut sutures, and count sponges, needles, and supplies.
• Operate sterilizers, surgical lights, suction machines, and diagnostic equipment.
• Help transfer patients to recovery, clean, and restock the operating room after procedures.
• Perform other duties as assigned by supervising physicians or nurses.

Required profile

• Graduate of an accredited surgical technologist program.
• Certified in CPR.
• 0‑2 years of clinical experience in a related field.
• Ability to stand for long periods and lift or turn patients.
• Capability to concentrate for up to four hours and communicate verbally.

Required skills

• CPR certification.
• Operation of sterilizers, surgical lights, suction machines, and diagnostic equipment.
• Proficiency with computer keyboard and monitor usage.
• Knowledge of sterile instrument assembly and handling.
