Civil Engineer I

About the role

Sasol is seeking a Civil Engineer I to provide technical and engineering support for the inspection, integrity management, maintenance, rehabilitation, and development of civil and structural assets across its oil and gas operations.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement civil and structural integrity management programs and maintain asset registers.
• Lead inspections and condition assessments of steel structures, pipe racks, equipment support structures, buildings, warehouses, compressor stations, foundations, and concrete structures.
• Identify corrosion, concrete deterioration, cracks, settlement, deformation, and load‑related deficiencies, and prepare inspection reports with remediation plans.
• Develop building inspection and maintenance programmes for office buildings, control rooms, workshops, warehouses and accommodation facilities.
• Design and monitor road inspection and maintenance strategies for access roads, internal plant roads, gravel roads, drainage systems, culverts, bridges and crossings.
• Provide civil engineering input into brownfield and greenfield projects, review designs, support cost estimation, execution and commissioning.
• Manage specialist contractors performing structural inspections, non‑destructive investigations, concrete repairs, road rehabilitation and building maintenance, ensuring quality and technical acceptance.

Required profile

• University Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering.
• Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in civil/structural integrity management, inspection and maintenance.
