Civil Laboratory Coordinator

About the role

SGS Mozambique is seeking a Civil Laboratory Coordinator to manage its industrial laboratory and site laboratories in Maputo. The role reports to the Industrials Business Manager and is responsible for ensuring high‑quality laboratory services and compliance with SGS quality systems.

Key responsibilities

• Manage laboratory operations, ensuring smooth function, quality service, and cost efficiency.
• Maintain and clean equipment, verify calibrations, and acquire capital equipment as needed.
• Oversee testing of soils, asphalt, seals, concrete, and aggregates, including bench calculations.
• Prepare quotations, tenders, and ensure budget compliance.
• Conduct weekly inspection reports, supervise staff performance appraisals and training.
• Ensure accreditation, health and safety regulations, and ISO standards are adhered to.

Required profile

• Degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
• At least 10 years of experience in laboratory management and team leadership.
• Strong knowledge of ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001 and ISO 17025.
• Proficiency in Portuguese and English, driver’s license.
