EHS Engineer

About the role

Heading Moçambique is recruiting an EHS Engineer to be based in Maputo, Mozambique. The role covers regulatory compliance, risk assessment, incident investigation, training and emergency preparedness.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct regular internal EHS audits and inspections, prepare and submit regulatory reports and permits, and stay updated on EHS laws and industry best practice
• Perform Job Safety Analyses (JSAs), Process Hazard Analyses (PHAs) and risk assessments, and recommend engineering, administrative and PPE controls
• Lead root cause analysis of accidents, near-misses and environmental spills, develop corrective and preventive actions, and maintain EHS records
• Develop and deliver EHS training for employees, contractors and management
• Update emergency response plans and run regular emergency drills

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health & Safety, Engineering or a related field
• At least 5 years of experience in an EHS role in manufacturing, construction, chemicals or pharmaceuticals
• Fluent English, spoken and written
• Strong knowledge of hazard identification, risk assessment and control measures

Required skills

• Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
• Experience with EHS software systems
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
